For the first time tomorrow, I shall be joining the NaNoWriMo crowd.
NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. The main NaNo event takes place in November. Participants have a goal of writing 50,000 words (a small novel) in a month.
Camp NaNo events take place in April and July. Camps are more relaxed events where writers set their own goals, and the goals can be planning or editing related as well as writing.
In Camp, writers are split into cabins of twelve people who all encourage each other to meet their goals. I’m in a cabin with a group of writer friends I mostly already know, which will be fun!
During July Camp, I plan to edit a rough first draft that I recently produced. I have a goal of editing 50,000 words but I don’t know if I’ll achieve it. It all depends how much research I need to do and how much time I can find. But it’s good to aim high.
I really want to get it done though, so I can get back to working on the final edits for my first novel.
So many projects, so little time!
Best of luck to everyone participating in July’s NaNo.
Camp’s going to be so much fun this year! Good luck with your editing. 🙂
Thanks!
Yay! You’re in our cabin. Awesome 🙂
This is my first Camp too. I’m planning to write the first half of Dragons of Atlantea (book 2). Keeping my fingers crossed.
All the best with your editing 🙂
Yay book 2! Best of luck to you too 🙂
Good luck with all the editing!
Thanks! I’m doing well so far.
